Some Interesting Facts about the 'Goodfellas' film Actors



The Goodfellas film is said to be one of the greatest mobster thriller movies of all time. With character including Joe Pesci, Robert DeNiro, and Ray Liotta, you get nothing short of a riveting cast. Director Martin Scorsese, with the help of De Niro, sought out some of the best talent to play the real life characters. The four of these individuals would require the help of one another that would ultimately make them acting legends.

The origins of Joe Pesci "You Think I'm Funny" scene was based off of a real life occurrence Joe Pesci experience as a waiter when he posted jokes at a customer who so happened to be a mobster. In response, the line was born. Pesci pitched this to Scorsese and the scene was born. The only three people that knew about the improvisation of the scene was Joe Pesci, Ray Liotta and Martin Scorsese because they wanted the real life reactions of the other actors.

Robert De Niro had a strong place for this part as he actually ran with a pretty tame italian gang in the bronx as a child. Robert De Niro's nickname within the gang was "Bobby Milk" due to his pale complexion. Additionally, most of the big time actors that were just about to hang up their acting gloves were sought out by Robert De Niro.

Ray Liotta is known for his roles for psychopathic characters because of his demeanor. Not many know that before Ray Liotta films he was a custodian working at a cemetery. It was a moment in his life where he was thinking about death. This was during the time Liotta was at University of Miami.
